Training your dog can be difficult, especially if it is your first time. Thankfully, the article which follows has a ton of information you can use.

You need to establish regular feeding routines for your dog. A predictable feeding schedule and removing the food promptly will teach them to eat their food quickly. Soon, your pet will finish the meal before you’re ready to remove its dish.

A puppy should have chew toys to get him through the teething pains. Keep other things out of his reach. Immediately replace it with one of his designated chew toys. A frozen washcloth is a great way to help your pup ease his teething pain.

To strengthen your training efforts, you can use a designated verbal command to help your animal know what your expectations are and when they have been fulfilled. The word “yes” can be the bridge between rewards and good behavior.

Teaching any dog how to roll over can be pretty easy. Make sure you’ve got a few tasty treats handy before beginning. Begin by getting the dog to lay down. Then hold the treat at the side of the dog’s head and move it around it’s face to the other side. This will cause your dog to use their nose to follow the treat. As a result, your dog will roll over. Whenever you dog does roll over, actually say the words, “roll over.” Continue to do this until your dog actually rolls over whenever you say the words without using the treat. Have patience since your dog may not get the trick quickly. However, once he does, he’ll be the center of attention at the dog park.

The daily training sessions with your dog should be fun. Try and develop a bond with your dog by playing with him, it will only encourage the dog to want to please you more during training. While training can be fun, try having play time with your dog every day for a period of time.

Use primary reinforcement when training your dog. Primary reinforcement is a positive reinforcement training strategy that relies heavily on things your dog already enjoys. Primary reinforcements include using food as treats and rubbing your dog’s belly. This is how you teach your dog to be good to get what he wants.

When you begin training your puppy, create a bond with him by first teaching him his name. Repeat his name regularly, so he will learn to come to you when he hears it. His name should be the first word he learns. Spend as much time as possible with your dog, so you can bond and he’ll learn you’re his master. If the puppy trusts you, he will be easier to train later.

As the tips have shown, training your dog is a great way to foster good behavior and perhaps even some fun tricks. Once you apply these concepts, you will have started the process of turning into a training expert.
