Train Any Dog With These Great Hints

A lot of people want to train their dogs but they think it’s too difficult. This may be because they are not sure of the right way to train their dog. Training your dog requires a high degree of information, so constantly research methods. Keep on reading to get some great training tips.

Be careful of disrupting your training time with rewards. If the dog follows commands correctly, you should reward the animal only if it is calm. You might be happy about the progress your dog has made but you need to quell your excitment. Be calm, expect calm, then reward appropriately.

Be sure to keep your dog active and engaged a great deal of the time. Dogs can get bored easily. Dogs with no enthusiasm will be harder to train than active dogs. When your dog gets regular exercise, he will be much happier and will pay attention more easily. Regularly take a walk or run with your dog.

Dogs will focus on something and ignore all else unless something breaks that attention. Once your dog knows his attention command, you will be able to coerce him to ignore almost anything.

Never chain two dogs too close to each other. The chain from one dog could wrap around the second and the dogs could get hurt trying to get free. If the dogs are different sizes, it could be even worse. A small dog could easily choke to death if it were to get too tangled up with a larger breed.

Use the right size crate for effective crate training. Keep in mind, puppies do not stay small forever. Choose a crate that your puppy can grow in, but won’t grow out of. There should be ample room for the dog to lie down and turn comfortably.

It is best to train your pet without unintentionally affirming his undesirable behaviors and mistakes. This means denying your dog treats and praise whenever it misbehaves. Don’t scratch the dogs back, give it a snack or reward it in any way if it jumps, barks or does anything you don’t approve of.

Start training with something simple. This will act as a foundation for further training as well as help you see instant success. Doing this will give you better results in your training.

Grooming is very important. Be sure to research any special grooming and hygiene requirements associated with the breed of your dog. Some breeds of dogs need little or no grooming, whereas other breeds need meticulous grooming weekly. When the dog is well groomed, it is happy and healthy.

By being consistent you can teach your puppy to “hold it.” Try taking your dog outside each hour when you’re at home. When he does his toilet outside, remember to praise him. Never yell at your dog for relieving itself in the house. The yellowing won’t help him understand, and he certainly doesn’t know better. Bathroom breaks are required after meals or after leaving the crate.

Hopefully with the knowledge you just acquired about training your dog, you’re feeling more confident with ways you can do just that. The information you learned here is good but remember that there’s always more to learn, so keep on the lookout for new information and apply it whenever you can and you should see results soon.
