Tips On How To Control Your Dog

Correcting this type of behavior is easy if you know the correct way to train a dog. You can find some valuable information on how to properly train your dog right here.

When crate training an indoor dog or puppy, you may try some tricks. If they are hesitant about the crate, you can put a nice chew bone inside and shut the gate while they are not in it. The dog will smell the bone and want to go racing into the crate to eat it. After they have entered the crate, be sure to give them praise so they understand that they have done a good thing.

Feed your dog a healthy diet. A bad diet is unhealthy for dogs for many reasons. Without proper nutrition, your dog’s general health will suffer and there may also be direct effects on behavior. A proper diet can affect how well they react to training.

The first thing you should teach your dog is to “leave it.” This commands the dog to drop whatever is in its mouth. You can use this command for a number of purposes. For example, it is used to prevent the dog from chewing on something or even to guide them out of harm’s way.

Have a good time while training your dog. Taking time to play creates a strong bond between the two of you, and your dog will be more likely to respond well to training. Training is fun for the dog, but you should set aside some real “play time” as well.

Ensure you get your dog’s attention using the same methods. Start all commands with the dog’s name. Get his attention with his name and then follow that with what you want him to do. Dogs that are properly trained will respond when their name is said.

Teach your dog that no response is required when you say ‘no’. Instead, use positive reinforcement to encourage positive behaviors and gloss past the results that are not what you want. Saying ‘no’ is not a good command, and the dog won’t know how to react. Dogs need tailored training to pull through.

The first thing you should do when training a puppy is teach him his name. Call him by name frequently, and teach him to come when called. It is a good idea to have your puppy learn these words first. Spending lots of time will create a strong bond with your puppy, and will lead to unbreakable trust. Once your puppy trusts you, it will be easier to train him.

Your dog will behave well if you keep reinforcing your training. Canine training does not stop once your dog is no longer a puppy. By reinforcing their behavior, you can ensure you dog will continue to obey. Also, by disciplining negative behaviors you can ensure your dog will be well behaved.

Untrained or poorly trained dogs can wreak havoc on your home and drive you crazy in the process. These tips should be helpful with teaching your dog to be a well-behaved member of your household.
