Congratulations on your new pet! Okay, but now what? Investing the time in proper training will help you and your dog forge a much better relationship. The following tips provide you with the information you need in order to successfully train your dog.

Training your dog requires generous rewards that are given correctly. Reward your dog with some treats right after they obey an order. This is because a dog does not always understand what it is being rewarded for if they do not receive their treat at the right time.

Dogs tend to concentrate on one thing to the exclusion of everything else unless that concentration is interrupted. Eventually, you will be able to ensure that your dog is more focused on you and your commands than other distractions.

Repetition is what causes a dog to learn. You may need to repeat the command more than 20 or 30 times. Be patient and continue using a command until your dog learns it.

The first rule to remember when you begin to house train your puppy is that what you feed them will eventually come out the other end. Feed your pooch several times daily at the same hour. If you know when the puppy eats, you will be able to better predict when to take him out. This means fewer accidents!

Make sure to use the exact same tone with your dog every time you give him a command. An authoritarian tone informs your dog he is expected to obey. Your dog needs to understand that there is a difference between the tone you use to discipline your dog from the tone you use to give an order.

Set small, easy goals when you start training your dog. Not only does this give you a feeling of satisfaction in your success, but your dog also learns about what an acceptable behavior is. This will give you positive results from the onset.

Always train your dog with positive reinforcement. Use petting, positive words, and occasion treats to reward your dog whenever he does something good. Avoid shouting and hitting the dog. Not only are those things ineffective, but they are also cruel. Maintain a calm attitude anytime that your dog does wrong so that you can have a relationship o mutual respect with your dog.

Both dogs and owners are happier once a dog is well-trained. Using this article’s advice, you will have plenty of ideas to get started.
