Cats are very smart, loving and fun animals but they require some attention. You can find a cat in pretty much every city and in many homes. It is very difficult if you want to live outdoors with cats. These smart, agile, powerful creatures can be a little hardheaded and require advanced tactics.

Female cats need to be spayed as soon as they reach the proper age. Even if she is an inside cat, you need to spay her because she could get out. Spray your cat so that this does not occur.

If you have an outdoor kitty, make sure to invest in a break away collar with an identification tag. Cats can get lost, and they need a tag to be found. The tag should contain your name and number for contact purposes.

Most cats are very nocturnal. Your cat will probably be very active during the night. If your busy kitties are keeping you up into the wee hours, try simply closing your bedroom door. You can keep them from bothering you at night and getting your feet while you’re under covers.

Give your cat lots of attention and love. Cats provide warmth and affection, and they also require the same from you. Cats need a social life with people just like you do with other people. They’ll know they are accepted as members of the family if they get plenty of loving attention.

If you take your cat with you when you travel, be mindful of their ears. While you may like to crank up the stereo when you go cruising, your pet probably prefers you keep the volume down. So, keep your volume down, or turn it off to give your cat a better travel experience.

Avoid spending too much time trying to train your cat to utilize its litter box. This is natural to them and does not need to be taught. A lot of people think that they can take their cat and try to rub their cat’s paws on the litter, but this may just traumatize the cat.

You need to buy some quality food for your cat. Read the ingredients, and make sure a source of protein, like fish or chicken, is near the top. Try avoiding foods that have non-protein elements like corn. Cats are meant to eat meat, and that means that they need to have foods that are high in protein.

Invest in a cat friendly fountain. A cat will always drink from running water if possible. Cats will respond more positively to streams of water. Many cats prefer running water over their water dish. Drinking fountains are more environmentally-friendly and they let your cat drink naturally.

It is very difficult for you to outwit your cat. They are going to learn which places they can go and what things they should leave alone. Training a cat may not be as easy as training a dog, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Soon, you’ll be the owner of a well behaved cat.
