Cats aren’t simple to please. You may not fully understand their preferences for years after you adopt them. Learn more about cats and how you can properly care for them. The following tips can help you care for your own cat.

Be sure your cat gets regular checkups at the vet. Cats need routine shots and wellness checks just like people. If a condition, illness, or injury happens, your cat should be taken to the vet immediately.

If your cat goes outside, it is important to have a collar with a tag. If your cat gets lost during its time outdoors, a tag makes it easier to locate the animal. You have to be sure you have your pet’s name and number written on the tag.

Consider having your cat fitted with a microchip. Your pet may be an indoor cat, but that doesn’t mean it’ll never dash through your door or slide outside via an open window. Although they provide the information needed to find your beloved pet, they can also accidentally get caught or even be wiggled out of. A microchip, on the other hand, is inserted near your cat’s shoulder blades, takes only a second to do, and all of your current contact info can be read through the chip. Most vets and animal shelters will have a microchip scanner and because it’s under the animal’s skin it can never become lost.

Don’t allow your cat become bored. Cats need play and exercise like other pets. Too frequently this need is overlooked by owners. Cats who become bored often have issues that can affect them in a big way. Some of these issues are obesity due to eating out of boredom, OCD issues, fighting with other pets and depression. Give them exercise space and a lot of toys. If they stay indoors make sure they have a scratching post for climbing.

Keep your cat’s litter box in the right location. It shouldn’t be put in an area with high traffic and should be far from their food. Additionally, don’t make the mistake of putting it in a poorly-ventilated area, or the smell will become overpowering. Your cat and you will prefer this in the end.

If you have to travel with a cat you should remember their ears. You and your cat probably have different ideas about the ideal volume for the car stereo, for instance: Remember that your cat’s hearing is more sensitive than yours. Try turning down your tunes or keeping it off to make your cat’s trip better.

If you can’t please your cat, these tips will at least help you can take care of him. You should do your best to look after your cat and make sure she gets everything she needs; these tips will help. Your cat just might start playing nice! This is a possibility!
